This is why French feels unnatural.
Here is a mini lesson:
In real spoken French, “ne” is almost never used.
We keep it only to insist or to add emphasis.

Contractions like “je suis” → “j’suis” are not mandatory, but they are very common in daily conversations.
You can still say “je suis” or “je suis pas”
It’s correct.

Inverted questions like
“Comment vas-tu ?”,
“Es-tu… ?”,
“As-tu… ?”
are never used in real life.

Instead, French people use:
direct questions
“est-ce que” for closed questions
“qu’est-ce que” for open questions

Also, “il y a” is almost always pronounced “y’a”.
You will hear “y’a” everywhere.

If your French is very school-like or very formal, that’s not a problem.
You are free to speak the way you want. Heureusement hahah !
But you must understand real spoken French.
Because if you don’t, you won’t understand people. Ce serait dommage non ?
